Feature Day @ Gecko Galz

Today is my day to feature my Design Team project for the month of January over at Gecko Galz. 

Staying digital, I made a quick and simple design, this image is so lovely and it would be lovely to fussy cut round, perfect for Mothers Day! Mmmmm.......

A digital Christmas card

Back to working 13hrs - just two days at work, sudden drop from working 28/34 hrs for last 2 months or so.....eek! The first few days at home are fine but then I start to miss going out to work and then that's when my moods start to nosedive and I get really low. Trying to stay positive though - plenty of cards to make between now and next Thursday.....

Here's a 100% digital Christmas card I did this morning.

Using a Gecko Galz image, I resized it and then using the colour pipette, I matched the 'backing paper' to the background of the image, slightly altering its transparency to fit better. The smoky border came from a digi kit I have, again just played around till it looked like the edges were smudged with age. I bevelled the edges of the newly created topper and then made another 'backing paper' of the same colour to put the the topper on, so you can see the beveled edge more clearly. Drew 2 little circles and colour matched the red from the image, agin using the bevel tool - which made then look like shiny gems. Last but not least I found a bow from another kit and matched the red, adding a deep shadow to it. This sounds quite quick too do but it wasn't as I kept changing my mind on colours, placement.....

Using CAP2, I resized the image to fit the card blank(6x6), then turned it black - as it was tinted already, it isn't a true black. I then looked through my digi kits to find a suitable backing paper, once I had found it, I changed that to the colour black, again as it was coloured, it isn't a true black.

 

After googling sentiments for what seemed like two days............. I drew a black (colour from the image, to match)) square, wrote my sentiment in Cutly Girlz font, turned it white and placed it into the box, making sure they were both central & level, then grouped them together so it became a solid embellishment.

 

Copied & pasted into an A4 workpage and printed it off, then it was just cutting out and placing.

Backed the image onto silver mirror card, just to make it stand out a bit, then stuck everything down and went mad with the bling!

Catching up on challenges, second digi today, this one was for 'whats in your bag'......  and one of the items was a book of raffle tickets for the RSPB. So a little birdie told me what to do -

just finished this 100% digital scrap card, the challenge was to use this colour palette:

 

so I copied the chart into CAP2 and took my colours straight from it using the colour selector pipette,and with different materials/effects added, I made this card, it could also be used as a topper.

A simple off - white A6 card, designed in CAP and printed onto a textured card, embellished with a couple of gems. (just realised that the card matches the wallpaper *lol*)

Never had to make a card for this occasion, so many images to use but I eventually settled for the swirly frame, did the card in CAP, then embellished it with a butterfly - to tie in with the Invitation which had a small butterfly in the corner

 

used glossy photo paper and layered it onto black cardstock to keep it co-ordinated and simple. The swirly frame came from The Graphic Fairy.

Some nice rota-ing at work has given me three days off together. So what do I do on my first day? Not alot! Really hot here, am melting just typing.

Played in CAP and came up with this A5 card -

Used an image from the graphic fairy, and then used a couple of digi materials, a ribbon and finally clustered the flowers together, adding a little gold centre.

Had an email from one of my favourite stamp shops today, saying to due to ill health she was having to close up and retire. I only have a few of her stamps but they were great and easy to use. Lovely designs as well.
So I did her a little card to cheer her up at what, I guess must be a sad and worrying time.

 Our furry and feathered babies always send a Father/Mother Days card ( mothers day if he rememebers to get one!!) so this is the one for Andrew.
As a surprise I picked out an old photo of him, his dad (sadly I never got to meet him) and his dog Cindy at (for a guess) Great Yarmouth.
Gosh, when this photo was took I would either have just been born or at least under 2 years of age.

To celebrate the  Diamond Jubilee - I used the DT freebie kit British Street Party, and googled Her Majesty, the Coronation photo is the offical one by Cecil Beaton, top small is a random photo and the bottom small is a photo of The Queen on Sunday attending the Royal Floatilla. We watched the coverage on BBC HD, it was amazing.

For the insert I looked for poems relating to Her Majesty - the one I used is a Haiku by John Tiong Chunghoo.

another cap production, this time for an anniversary.

the image is from the Graphics Fairy, I used a sepia tint then turned down the transparancy. I was going to do the whole card using the same colour hue, but decided it looked like a tea bag explosion, so opted for the startling white lacey feel.

Here's a Birthday card I made in the tradiotional way *shock horror*. Used a Debbi Moore Venetian topper, (not sure about this lady - her bosoms are odd!) some gold bling and peel offs.
I scanned the backing paper onto the computer then used CAP to produce an insert, the verse made me giggle.

A birthday card done for a friend, I was stuck for a theme till I remembered the lady in question loves Slash, so I ended up doing a SteamPunk Slash card. Used Alegra's Steam digikit.

My uncle's birthday is looming. As he is a keen (and very good!) photographer I wanted to use one of his photo's for his card. I used a particular favourite of mine, knowing that it would fit with the Steam Stock digikit I had.

Now just need to find some nice card stock to print it on.... with the gales and the rain we've had just lately, we've ended up with a few broken rooftiles, crumbling pointing, a soggy carpet and two damp walls. 

The Council have been and inspected the damage, and have declared 'scaffolding needs ordering'. What happened to the good old days when one man and his very long ladder came along and fixed stuff???

Hence all my craft stuff is piled to one side out the way, waiting for dryer climes.

Totally ironic random fact: we have scaffolding on the front of our house ready for new fascia's to be fitted on the guttering.......

We will match both sides soon.

I've used the photo before, one for my dad a few posts earlier, I love this image, totally random thing to come across when out for a walk. One day we will go back and stay at the campsite.

This is done with a vintage image from 'The Graphics Fairy'. Look closely and a hidden message is revealed; could it lead to treasure or is it a long lost love letter hidden away?

Decided to go with a garden theme as spent last weekend planting cabbage. brussels, cauliflowers and peas outside, and in the green house courgettes, tomatoes, peppers and 3 cascading Strawberry plants to hang on the patio (hopefully). Never mind green fingers, they were soil black by the time we had finished! *lol*
And Quinn helped too ;)

Having decided to do some proper digital scrapbboking I found myself in a whole new exciting and shiny world called Daisy Trail. Before I splurged and bought the Craft Artist Professional, I decided to try the compact freebie available on DT.

One birthday card later:

I love these little birdies! Spotted two mistakes after I'd printed the thing...... and added 3 little gems for the birds eyes.

This is a photo I took when we went to... yes you've guessed it - Hardwick Hall, the other week, my first sighting of lambs this year. Have seen loads more, some even smaller and unfortunately two dead ones hand delivered by a farmer.

Anyway by now I was totally hooked and splurged my £19.99 on the proper version from Create and Craft.

Only to find that the week after when I received it, C & C dropped the price to £9.99 as a Pick of the Week deal. Oh well....

I now have around 10 programmes to watch and play along with. Yay!!

This digikit was InkBlot butterflies, and has the most gorgeous pinks and purples, abolutley perfect for purplemurtle!!
